Basketball Recap: Riley Kerwin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. James Academy over Andover

St. James Academy and Andover squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but St. James Academy had to settle for second. They fell 49-45 to the Trojans. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Several Thunder players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Kerwin, who shot 64% from the field en route to 20 points. Thanks to that strong game, Kerwin now owns an excellent 40.2% three-point shooting accuracy. Regan Becker was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Andover's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aliyah Green, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds. Green is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bella Bouddhara, who posted 16 points.

St. James Academy moved to 18-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Andover, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 22-1.

St. James Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Andover, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-49 loss against Seaman on the 14th.
