The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Booker T. Washington Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. L.E.A.D. Academy has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for L.E.A.D. Academy after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 17-7 to Pine Forest. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
L.E.A.D. Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Badejo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Hunter Chance also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Booker T. Washington entered their tilt with Laurel Hill on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Hoboes with a sharp 19-7 victory.
Lucas Parkhurst made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, JJ Startzel was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Silas Schrimsher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Booker T. Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
L.E.A.D. Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Booker T. Washington, their record now sits at 7-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. L.E.A.D. Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Booker T. Washington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
L.E.A.D. Academy might still be hurting after the 19-1 loss they got from Booker T. Washington in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
