Softball Game Preview: Tussey Mountain Titans vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates

The Tussey Mountain Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Tussey Mountain nor Williamsburg posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tussey Mountain is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Southern Fulton just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1.

Adyson Weyandt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Williamsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to Juniata Valley. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Blue Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Williamsburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Stromyar, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Stromyar hit this season.

Tussey Mountain now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Tussey Mountain's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Titans have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Williamsburg, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Tussey Mountain continue to outrun the ball?

Tussey Mountain beat Williamsburg 5-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
