Soccer Game Preview: Hawkins vs. Smidt Tech

The Hawkins Hawks will take on the Smidt Tech Grey Wolves at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hawkins' last four contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hawkins fell victim to Dymally and their airtight defense on Friday. They fell just short of the Challengers by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Smidt Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Animo De La Hoya on Friday. The victory continues a trend for Smidt Tech in their matchups with Animo De La Hoya: they've now won four in a row.

Smidt Tech's win bumped their record up to 3-17-1. As for Hawkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-2.

Hawkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Smidt Tech when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
