Softball Recap: Newport Takes a Loss

Monday just wasn't the day for Newport's offense. They lost 15-0 to the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Newport dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Newport Central Catholic, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Newport will take on Robertson County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Black Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.07 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newport Central Catholic, they will challenge Lloyd Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
