Flag Football Recap: Sheldon Takes a Loss

Sheldon was the 24-18 winner over Laguna Creek when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Huskies took a 21-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Cardinals are ranked 499th).

Saniah Wiley threw for 177 yards and one touchdown. Cyanna Baker was her top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.

Sheldon's defeat dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Laguna Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sheldon will face off against Cosumnes Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies are facing the Wolfpack at the right time seeing as the Wolfpack are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Laguna Creek, they will challenge Elk Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
