Baseball Recap: Floresville Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cuero

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Floresville had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Cuero Gobblers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers/Jaguars.

Jaden Moreno made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Austin Beyer and Bryan Cardenas did most of the damage at the plate: Beyer got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one triple, while Cardenas went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Beyer has posted since back in April of 2024. Coy Mainz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Floresville's record now sits at 19-10. As for Cuero, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Floresville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gobblers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
