Basketball Recap: Chase Trojans vs. East Rutherford Cavaliers
This season hasn't been kind to the Chase Trojans, who are still winless after their 14th contest. They had to suffer through a rough 68-13 loss at the hands of East Rutherford. While losing is never fun, Chase can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 109th).
Jada Whitesides was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven steals for East Rutherford. That makes it six consecutive games in which Whitesides has scored at least a third of East Rutherford's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Vanover, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Chase dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for East Rutherford, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Chase will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Rutherford, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.
