Basketball Recap: Waterford Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ethan Real and Christian Gayle

It was a proper cat-fight when Waterford duked it out withBig Valley Christian on Tuesday. The Waterford Wildcats took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Big Valley Christian Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Waterford's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Christian Gayle, who posted ten points, and Ethan Real, who put up 14 points. Those 14 points gave Real a new career-high.

Big Valley Christian was led to victory by Titus Boone and Titus Beers. Boone went 11 of 23 en route to 25 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Beers dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Boone's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Evan Helm, who had eight points and three steals.

Waterford's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Big Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Waterford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Gustine on the 15th. As for Big Valley Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Bret Harte at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bret Harte will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Big Valley Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
