Basketball Recap: Leland Takes a Loss

Leland lost against Piedmont Hills back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Leland Chargers took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Piedmont Hills Pirates. The contest marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Piedmont Hills had a senior duo take command as Christian Arciaga posted 16 points and five rebounds and Armin Dhindsa scored 13 points. Those five boards gave Arciaga a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Lonero, who put up five points.

This is the second loss in a row for Leland and nudges their season record down to 13-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 15-6 Independence (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.3% over those games). As for Piedmont Hills, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.

Coming up, Leland will square off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Piedmont Hills, they will face off against Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Independence's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.
