Basketball Recap: Nevis Skates Past Walker-Hackensack-Akeley with Ease

Nevis waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 89-39 victory over the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 86-33 back in December of 2025.

Nevis was led to victory by Ethan Buckholtz and AJ Bessler. Buckholtz posted 32 points and five rebounds, while Bessler dropped a double-double with 24 points and 15 boards. Bessler is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Peyton Benson was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Nevis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups.

Nevis' win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Nevis will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Fertile-Beltrami at 1:30 p.m. As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Red Lake at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th.
