Baseball Game Preview: Arizona College Prep Knights vs. Desert Vista Thunder

The Arizona College Prep Knights will venture away from home to take on the Desert Vista Thunder at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Arizona College Prep's tournament run continued when they took on Gilbert Christian on Thursday. Arizona College Prep walked away with a 10-6 win over Gilbert Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Arizona College Prep.

Grant McInturf looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ashton Sanchez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Brodie May, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over Desert Mountain on Thursday, taking the game 7-4.

Seth Skinner tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Gutierrez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Anthony Renda was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Arizona College Prep's record now sits at 2-0. As for Desert Vista, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.

Arizona College Prep suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Desert Vista when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Arizona College Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
