Basketball Recap: Lower Cape May Takes a Loss

Lower Cape May was the 52-50 winner over Bridgeton when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Lower Cape May Tigers took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bridgeton Bulldogs on Wednesday. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 17-5 in the first quarter.

Jameell Purnell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bridgeton, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards. Purnell's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Zamier Myers was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points.

Lower Cape May's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Bridgeton, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.

Lower Cape May has already played their next contest (against Egg Harbor Township), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bridgeton is taking a road trip to face off against Vineland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bridgeton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
