Baseball Game Preview: David Anderson Blue Devils vs. Leetonia Bears

For the second straight game, David Anderson will face off against Leetonia. The Blue Devils will square off against the Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (David Anderson has five straight wins, Leetonia has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

David Anderson's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Leetonia 9-0. Considering the Blue Devils have won eight contests by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Carpenter was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because David Anderson is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Carpenter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Esarey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Logan Sturgeon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
