Basketball Recap: Van Buren Comes Up Short

Van Buren was the 52-47 winner over Riverdale when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Van Buren Black Knights fell to the Riverdale Falcons 44-40. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Falcons are ranked 233rd).

Van Buren has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Riverdale, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Buren will take on Eastwood at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Riverdale has already played their next game (against Perry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
