Basketball Recap: Jamestown Takes a Loss

Jamestown lost against Bruton back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jamestown Eagles came up short against the Bruton Panthers, falling 80-55. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.

It was another big night for Brandon Freeman, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals for Bruton. Freeman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathan Hopkins, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 13 points and five steals.

Jamestown's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. As for Bruton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jamestown will square off against Smithfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bruton, they will take on Windsor at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bruton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
