Baseball Game Preview: Midlothian Trojans vs. Clover Hill Cavaliers

The Midlothian Trojans will take on the Clover Hill Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Midlothian will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Midlothian will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Hanover, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Trojans walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Hawks on Wednesday. Midlothian's win was all the more impressive since the Hawks were averaging only 2.4 runs allowed on the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clover Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Cosby on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Keller Williams looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lucas Rose and Owen Tingen did most of the damage at the plate: Rose went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Tingen went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Spence, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Clover Hill's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Midlothian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
