Softball Game Preview: Harrison Wildcats vs. Fairfield Indians

The Harrison Wildcats will square off against the Fairfield Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Harrison was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Western Brown, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since May 3, 2024.

Josie Harness spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Harrison got a big performance out of Caiden Baird, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Barrier, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fairfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past New Richmond 4-3.

Fairfield has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Harrison, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
