Softball Recap: La Quinta Starts Season with Victory on the Road

La Quinta had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Magnolia Sentinels with a sharp 13-2 win. The Aztecs haven't had any issues with the Sentinels recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

La Quinta let Kailey Huynh and Ella Magga loose on the outfield. Huynh scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Magga scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Magga a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Raellie Faatuga, who went a perfect2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

La Quinta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magnolia only posted a batting average of .062.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Quinta will head out to take on Anaheim at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Magnolia, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Glenn at 6:00 p.m. on February 26th.
