Basketball Recap: Trey Foster's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri-County over Washington Township

On Tuesday, the Tri-County Cavaliers were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 71-65 to the Washington Township Senators. Even though they lost, the Cavaliers' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.8 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Tri-County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Foster, who went 7-for-15 on his way to 22 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Foster a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Hughes, who posted 13 points along with six steals and five assists.

Even though they lost, Tri-County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Washington Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brogan Banker led the charge by going 7-for-16 to rack up 21 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Connor Parks, who went 6-for-8 en route to 16 points.

Tri-County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Washington Township, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Tri-County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-51 loss against Benton Central on the 14th. As for Washington Township, they have also already played their next game, a 59-57 win against South Central on the 14th.
