Softball Recap: Mark Keppel Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Mark Keppel's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Bell Gardens Lancers 9-2. Considering the Aztecs have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Robyn Guitron was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Guitron was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Lucero, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avigail Navarro, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.

Mark Keppel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bell Gardens only posted a batting average of .120.

Mark Keppel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Bell Gardens, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
