Basketball Recap: Brant Ellis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Knightstown over Winchester Community

Knightstown lost against Winchester Community back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Knightstown Panthers took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winchester Community Golden Falcons. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured eight losses in a row.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brant Ellis, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Mefford, who scored eight points and five rebounds.

Winchester Community got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Fraze out in front who had 17 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Carter Campbell, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points.

Knightstown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Winchester Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Knightstown Panthers take on the Rushville Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Knightstown is facing Rushville at the right time seeing as Rushville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Winchester Community, they will venture away from home to take on Tri at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Tri has won seven straight at home, while Winchester Community won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
