Softball Recap: Thornridge Falcons vs. Crete-Monee Warriors

Thornridge had lost 17 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-17 to make it 18. They came up short against the Crete-Monee Warriors, falling 9-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-6 on Monday.

As for Crete-Monee, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

For Crete-Monee's part, Maraya Betancourt was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Betancourt a new career-high. Taleeana Ramirez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.

While Thornridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
