Basketball Game Preview: McLaughlin Mustangs vs. Lower Brule Sioux

McLaughlin is 0-3 against Lower Brule since February of 2020 but things could change on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 9:30 a.m. without much rest, having both just played. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

McLaughlin's tournament run continued when they took on Lakota Tech on Friday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Tatanka by a score of 53-44.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lower Brule beat Crow Creek 43-39 on Friday. The Sioux haven't had any issues with the Chieftains recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The win got McLaughlin back to even at 2-2. As for Lower Brule, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

McLaughlin was dealt a bruising 78-43 loss at the hands of Lower Brule when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
