Softball Game Preview: Glencoe Yellowjackets vs. Southside Panthers

Glencoe hasn't had much luck against Southside recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Glencoe Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Southside Panthers at 10:00 a.m.

Glencoe is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Monday. They fell 9-4 to Weaver.

Meanwhile, Southside entered their tilt with Hokes Bluff on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Eagles 9-2.

Lauren Mckee and Rylann Shaw did most of the damage at the plate: Mckee went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles, while Shaw scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. What's more, Shaw posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Bailey Houston was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Southside pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Glencoe, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Glencoe came up short against Southside in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 8-5. Can Glencoe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
