Softball Recap: Noblesville Has No Trouble Against Yorktown

Noblesville's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Yorktown Tigers as they made off with a 9-1 victory. Considering the Millers have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Retzinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Addi Emmerson and Haley Schatko did most of the damage at the plate: Emmerson went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Schatko went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Emmerson has posted since back in April. Maggie Kern was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Noblesville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Noblesville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Yorktown, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Noblesville will welcome Brownsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yorktown, they will host New Castle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
