Baseball Game Preview: Fort Zumwalt East Lions vs. St. Charles West Warriors

Fort Zumwalt East and St. Charles West are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. Fort Zumwalt East will welcome St. Charles West at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Zumwalt East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Fort Zumwalt East after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Boonville by a score of 11-10. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carson Page was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Carson Topping was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Jackson Bingham was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Even though they lost, Fort Zumwalt East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, St. Charles West got themselves on the board against Battle on Wednesday, but Battle never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Spartans.

The win got St. Charles West back to even at 2-2. As for Fort Zumwalt East, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Everything went Fort Zumwalt East's way against St. Charles West in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Fort Zumwalt East made off with a 10-1 victory. Will Fort Zumwalt East repeat their success, or does St. Charles West has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
