Softball Game Preview: Myrtle Hawks vs. Booneville Blue Devils

The Myrtle Hawks will head out to square off against the Booneville Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Myrtle's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Falkner as Myrtle made off with a 10-0 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Falkner's batters probably weren't too happy with Brooklyn Streich, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, Cora Beth Kelly was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckensie Wise, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Myrtle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Booneville waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 17-0 victory. The game marked the Blue Devils' most dominant win of the season so far.

Booneville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Myrtle, their record now sits at 7-1.

Myrtle couldn't quite finish off Booneville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Myrtle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
