St. Brendan hasn't had much luck against Doral Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. St. Brendan will be playing in front of their home fans against Doral Academy at 6:30 p.m. St. Brendan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, St. Brendan came up short against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) and fell 7-3.
St. Brendan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Barrueta, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Doral Academy put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Montverde Academy get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Firebirds, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Meagan Villazon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Anabela Abdullah was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Zoey Abdullah, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Doral Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montverde Academy only posted an OBP of .286.
Doral Academy pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. Brendan, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Both St. Brendan and Doral Academy just can't seem to miss. St. Brendan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Doral Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Brendan might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Doral Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will St. Brendan have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
