Football Game Preview: Highland Cougars vs. Monroe City Panthers

Highland is 0-10 against Monroe City since September of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Cougars will challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Highland has given up an average of 48.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Highland faced off against Macon on Friday. The Cougars had to suffer through a 62-6 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-6.

Meanwhile, Monroe City entered their tilt with Benton on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They breezed past the Cardinals to the tune of 44-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Cardinals are ranked 230th).

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Monroe City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Highland was taken down by Monroe City 54-14 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
