Jack Britt took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Purnell Swett, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jack Britt Buccaneers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Purnell Swett Rams 11-9. The game was the first time the Buccaneers have beaten the Rams on their field since April 19, 2021.

Madisyn Norton spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashanthy Marcano was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Lauren McGarry, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Jack Britt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .488. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jack Britt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. Purnell Swett's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Jack Britt will look to defend their home field on Friday against Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. Jack Britt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Purnell Swett, they will head out on the road to square off against South View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Purnell Swett has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
