Volleyball Recap: Danbury Starts off Right with Win over Cardinal Stritch

Danbury had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Lakers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Danbury won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.

Leading Danbury to victory were Jillian Bergman and Zoe Uhinck. Bergman had 11 digs and one assist, while Uhinck had 21 digs. Those 21 digs gave Uhinck a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Cardinal Stritch had strong showings from Ryley Rodriguez, who had 20 digs, and Hayden Mathena, who had 24 assists and 11 digs.

Danbury has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Gibsonburg on the 19th. As for Cardinal Stritch, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Rossford on the 18th.
