Preview: Donaldsonville Tigers vs. St. James Wildcats
Donaldsonville is 1-6 against St. James since October of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Donaldsonville Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the St. James Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, Donaldsonville was beaten by E.D. White 44-6. While losing is never fun, Donaldsonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 190th, while E.D. White is ranked 14th).
Meanwhile, St. James had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Patterson 48-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for St. James, who have now won three matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
St. James' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Williams, who threw for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Kani King-young also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
St. James' win bumped their season record to 6-1 while Donaldsonville's defeat dropped theirs to 3-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Donaldsonville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like St. James struggles in that department as they've been even better at 186.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Donaldsonville was taken down by St. James 41-12 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Donaldsonville, Kaden m. Williams (who rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
