Williamston is 1-8 against DeWitt since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Williamston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Williamston took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let Eastern get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Quakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Thea Fortin made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sidney Fortin was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Jaiden Griffith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Williamston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, DeWitt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Waverly.
Williamston pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for DeWitt, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Williamston couldn't quite finish off DeWitt in their previous meeting back in June of 2024 and fell 12-10. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
