St. Mary Academy-Bay View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Forbes, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 19 points and three steals. Forbes is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Qiana Sumner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westerly can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They blew past South Kingstown, posting a 52-17 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted since December 15, 2023.
Westerly found their leader in freshman Ella Reyes, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Nova Woodward, who had nine points and five rebounds.
Westerly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
St. Mary Academy-Bay View's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Westerly, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. Mary Academy-Bay View has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.8 boards per game.
