Basketball Recap: Civic Memorial Comes Up Short

Civic Memorial lost against Mater Dei back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Civic Memorial Eagles took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mater Dei Knights. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Mater Dei got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dixie Ottenschnieder out in front who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Maris Zurliene, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Civic Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Mater Dei, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Civic Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 36-33 defeat against Teutopolis on the 23rd. Mater Dei has also already played their next contest, a 60-35 loss against Nashville on the 23rd.
