Baseball Recap: Cabool Comes Up Short

Cabool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Summersville Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 12-11 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Carson Long and Brody Noirfalise were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, Long struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Noirfalise tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Long earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases, while Noirfalise went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. Those runs marked the first that Long has scored this season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Appleton, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That run was his first of the season.

Cabool's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Summersville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Cabool will face off against Thayer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Summersville, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Winona at 5:00 p.m.
