Football Recap: Westland Hialeah Comes Up Short at Home Against South Miami

Westland Hialeah unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. The match between the Wildcats and the South Miami Cobras didn't end well, with the Wildcats falling 46-28. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

South Miami found their leader in freshman Quantes Smith, who rushed for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 31 yards and one TD. Rashad Bowling got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

South Miami's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4.

Westland Hialeah and South Miami will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats will challenge rival North Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on the 26th. Meanwhile, South Miami is set to square off against their familiar foe Hialeah at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
