Baseball Recap: Boise Starts off Right with Win over Emmett

Boise had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Emmett Huskies 6-5. The Brave haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Boise got a great performance from Aidric Bird as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Bird a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Newbery, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Chase Tommack was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Boise didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-7 loss against Borah on the 13th. As for Emmett, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-5 defeat against Parma on the 13th.
