After losing to Meridian the last time they met, Laurel decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Golden Tornadoes put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 56-32 victory on Friday. The Golden Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Laurel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gracelyn Carmichael, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points and five boards. Carmichael has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Zy Evans was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 12 points.

The win made it two in a row for Laurel and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 40 points in those games. As for Meridian, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Laurel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-48 win against Callaway on the 9th. As for Meridian, they have also already played their next game, a 47-28 defeat against Daphne on the 6th.
