Softball Recap: Box Elder Picks Up 18th Straight Win at Home

Box Elder had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Bonneville Lakers by a score of 9-5 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Bees in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now won five in a row.

Lucy Braegger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucy Griffin, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Brooke Richards was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Box Elder hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonneville struck out 12 times.

Box Elder's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-18.

Looking ahead, Box Elder will challenge Olympus at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bees 2.5, the Titans 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Bonneville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
