Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Golden Bears vs. East Lawrence Eagles

Lexington is a perfect 4-0 against East Lawrence since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lexington Golden Bears will look to defend their home field against the East Lawrence Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

On Monday, Lexington didn't have quite enough to beat Sheffield and fell 7-6. The Golden Bears haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Jacob Nava was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last five matchups. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Landon Carlock was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jake Lard was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, East Lawrence won against Covenant Christian on Saturday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. East Lawrence beat Falkville by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for East Lawrence, their victory bumped their record up to 2-11.

Lexington skirted past East Lawrence 5-4 in their previous matchup back in February. Will Lexington repeat their success, or does East Lawrence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
