Wayne County has gone 7-0 against Gautier recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wayne County War Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Gautier Gators at 6:00 p.m.

Wayne County is headed into Thursday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a 48-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laurel on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gautier). They came out on top against East Central by a score of 41-33 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Gators as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Wayne County's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Gautier, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-16.

Wayne County took their win against Gautier in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 47-21. Will Wayne County repeat their success, or does Gautier have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
