Basketball Game Preview: Lane Tech Champions vs. Jones Eagles

The Lane Tech Champions will take on the Jones Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lane Tech is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.

Jones will be up against a hot Lane Tech team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Lane Tech came out on top against Jones by a score of 58-48 on Friday. Given the Champions' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Eagles are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lane Tech found their leader in sophomore Lucy Mehlis, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Grace Bush, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points.

Lane Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Jones' win bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Lane Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.
