Basketball Recap: Moss Point Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Moss Point took on Kemper County on Saturday. The Tigers lost to the Wildcats on the road by a 37-19 margin.

Trinity Magee was Moss Point's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Landyn Miller held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Kemper County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakayla Chamberlin, who posted nine points and six rebounds. Chamberlin is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was TriniTy WesTerield, who scored five points and three steals.

Moss Point's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Kemper County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Moss Point will venture away from home to square off against Theodore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kemper County, they will head out to face off against Newton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
