Softball Game Preview: Capital Cougars vs. St. Joseph Central Irish

The Capital Cougars will square off against the St. Joseph Central Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Capital has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 30.

Capital lost 16-1 to George Washington on Monday.

Capital saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Faithanna Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Olivia Ziegler also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central fell victim to Sherman and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Tide, falling 21-0. The Irish haven't had much luck with the Tide recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

St. Joseph Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Capital, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Capital couldn't quite get it done against St. Joseph Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 4-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
