Recap: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks

The Sun Valley Spartans struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Mallard Creek Mavericks had 1600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sun Valley was outmatched by Mallard Creek at home and fell 83-21. Sun Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-16.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chloe Grant, who scored 2 points along with 6 rebounds.

Leading Mallard Creek to victory were Olivia Robertson and My'Asia Young. Robertson scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Young dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Young has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Jazmeen Stone was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 3 steals.

Sun Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Mallard Creek, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Sun Valley will head out on the road to face off against Ardrey Kell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ardrey Kell presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sun Valley in North Carolina (Ardrey Kell is ranked 21st, while Sun Valley is ranked 228th). As for Mallard Creek, they will be playing at home against West Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Charlotte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday.
