Basketball Recap: Enloe Falls Despite Big Games from Gianni Mcintire and Preston Williams

Enloe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They lost 69-48 to the Sanderson Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-49 last Tuesday.

Enloe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Preston Williams, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, and Gianni McIntire, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave McIntire a new career-high in shooting accuracy (62%). Gui Wilkins was another key player, putting up six points.

Nathan Fife was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-14 on his way to 27 points along with seven assists and five rebounds for Sanderson. Another player making a difference was Gordie Balas, who posted 13 points and six boards.

Enloe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Sanderson, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Enloe will challenge Broughton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Broughton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season. As for Sanderson, they will take on Leesville Road at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Leesville Road knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Sanderson likes a good challenge.
