Softball Game Preview: Prospect Mountain Timberwolves vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Saints

Prospect Mountain is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while St. Thomas Aquinas is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Timberwolves will welcome the Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Prospect Mountain's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Conant 15-0.

Alexis Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Prospect Mountain got a massive performance out of Tori Christie, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Christie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Guptill, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas faced Raymond in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Saints put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 13-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won seven in a row.

St. Thomas Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 17-0-1. As for Prospect Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.

Prospect Mountain skirted past St. Thomas Aquinas 4-2 in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
