Volleyball Recap: Sierra Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Sierra won the last time they faced East Union, and Manolo Asuncion did his part to make sure it happened again. The Timberwolves had just enough and edged out the Lancers 3-2 thanks in part to Asuncion, who had 20 digs and one assist. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Sierra wouldn't go down easily and took East Union into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-14, 24-26, 25-21, 15-13.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keenan Yang, who had 12 digs and six assists.

Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. As for East Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-11.

Sierra and East Union are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, the Timberwolves and Lathrop will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Union, they will be playing at home against Buhach Colony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
